Peace & Pride is about being proud of who you are, even in the face of adversity and racism, and getting through challenging times with strength, Mob and family. A First Nations ode to Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird”, P&P is a song of hope, looking towards brighter skies through strength, resilience and power. It is a show of Black excellence and a celebration of how good we are as First Nations people. But it is also an invitation for non-First Nations people to walk with us, to learn and live culture, and to be on the right side of the fence against political and racial division. It is a song of strength for all marginalised cultures and groups, and allies alike. Pride in our First Nations culture and who we are can never be taken away.

The song came to be lyrically from listening to a lot of Black Pumas, the Blak pride and strength with family, and at a time of large division through our country, and war , and racism happening across the globe, its a song that i would hope if someone heard it any where in the world, through any time, it would give them hope. Instrumentally the beat was Fontaines "Starburster" inspired, another favourite band on repeat at the time, It was written at Westway studios, the studio of Sydney Indie band Sticky Fingers, all in one session with STIFI member Freddy Crabbs, who delivered the driving keys hooks and rythm whihc became the foundation, and the driving guitar solos by Izaac Wilson, the drums by Beaker Best (StiFi) who at the time had been playing in KR for a few years.

The rap by Yung Brother, had come in later in the piece as a feature, after KR introducing the song to the live set it had seen many of Earl’s first nations brothers perform it in different regions of the country including Kiz and MR rhodes, in the end it was Yung Brother’s part that stuck.
